Counselling approaches
There are a wide range of different counselling approaches, techniques and methods. Resolve Counselling is primarily based on a Person-Centred approach.
Person-Centred counselling is respectful and positive about every person’s uniqueness and abilities. Everyone has the potential to make sense of who they are, and find purpose and fulfilment. We have the resources and can develop the skills to move forward – identifying the nature of hindrances, discovering our unique solutions, finding the confidence and power to overcome problems and live in a more satisfying way. In counselling we work together in this process of self-discovery, solution finding and self development. The counsellor works to understand, support and encourage also providing information and guidance when helpful.
Resolve Counselling also integrates insights and techniques from different approaches:
-
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - working on the thoughts that influense our behaviour
-
The Human Givens Approach - a synthesis of knowledge about how human beings function
-
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) - a technique based approach founded on neuroscience
-
Solution Focussed Brief Therapy - a more short term problem solving approach
-
Transactional Analysis (TA) - a comprehensive model of development, personality and behaviour.
